The Simple Path - Part 4 - Simple Story - Genesis 3 // March 9th, 2025

Teaching overview

This week, Pastor Riley Taylor explored the complexities of media narratives in his sermon, drawing from Genesis 3 and 2 Corinthians 11. He emphasized the importance of clarity in reading these narratives, contrasting Eve's deception by the serpent with Jesus' steadfastness in relying on God's truth amidst temptation, ultimately urging listeners to prioritize a simple devotion to Christ amid today's cultural distractions.

Our prayer for your Community

This week, ask the Lord: help us to recognize and reject the deceptive stories of the world and instead hold fast to the simple truth of Your Gospel. Guide our hearts and minds to trust in You alone, finding peace and clarity in Your Word each day.

Group questions

  1. How is God speaking to you through this passage or idea? (Seek)

  2. In what specific ways can you follow Jesus into deeper faith in light of this passage? (Practice)

  3. How can we as a group support you in living out what we’ve discussed this week? (Mission)

For further meditation through the rest of your week…

  1. Each day, take a moment to reflect on the messages you are consuming through media, conversations, and entertainment. Ask yourself: Is this drawing me closer to God’s truth, or is it subtly distorting it?

  2. Just as Jesus responded to temptation with “It is written,” commit to meditating on a key Bible verse each day. Let God’s Word be the lens through which you interpret the world around you.

  3. In moments of busyness or confusion, pause and pray: Lord, help me focus on You today. Let my heart rest in the simplicity of Your love and truth.
