The Simple Path - Part 5 - Simple Contentment // March 16th, 2025

Teaching overview

This week, Pastor Riley gave us Part 4 series called "The Simple Path," He focusing on Exodus 20 and the Tenth Commandment. He explored how covetousness, rooted in discontentment, leads to spiritual and moral pitfalls, emphasizing the importance of finding fulfillment in God rather than earthly desires. Riley highlighted biblical examples and modern societal influences, urging the congregation to embrace contentment and avoid the pitfalls of covetousness in today's culture.

Our prayer for your Community

Lord, help me find my contentment in You and not in the things of this world. Teach me to be grateful for what You’ve given and to trust that You are enough for me.

Group questions

  1. How is God speaking to you through this passage or idea? (Seek)

  2. In what specific ways can you follow Jesus into deeper faith in light of this passage? (Practice)

  3. How can we as a group support you in living out what we’ve discussed this week? (Mission)

For further meditation through the rest of your week…

  1. Spend time each day reflecting on how God’s presence and provision are sufficient for you. Ask God to help you find satisfaction in Him rather than chasing what you don’t have. Pray, “Father, remind me that true contentment is found in knowing You.”

  2. Make a list of the blessings in your life—both big and small. Each day, thank God for at least three of these blessings. Let this practice realign your heart from “what I lack” to “what I’ve been given,” shaping a spirit of gratitude over desire.

  3. Choose one way this week to give—whether time, money, encouragement, or possessions—as a way to fight the grip of materialism.
