Romans 15:18-33 // November 10th, 2024

Teaching overview

This week’s teaching was on Romans 15:8-21 In this text, Riley taught that the gospel that Paul is spreading serves as the foundation for relationships in the church, fostering deeper connections, deeper transformation and deeper spiritual growth. Community looks like being involved with people in various relationship circles; intimate (1-5 ppl), community (15-30 ppl), village (<150 ppl) and tribes (>150 ppl). Deep spiritual formation happens in deep community. We have often traded community for tribalism which brings us into greater loneliness in our lives.

Our prayer for your Community

Our prayer for you this week is that we would be real and authentic with one another, building connections that lead to deep transformation. Ask the Lord to show us how to engage more fully in this unity, allowing the Spirit to work in and through us to bring lasting change.

Group questions

  1. How is God speaking to you through this passage or idea? (Seek)

  2. In what specific ways can you follow Jesus into deeper faith in light of this passage? (Practice)

  3. How can we as a group support you in living out what we’ve discussed this week? (Mission)

For further meditation…

  1. Paul humbly credits Christ for all his accomplishments, reminding us to serve in a way that glorifies God rather than seeking personal recognition.  Lord, help us serve with humility, always aware that it is Your strength working in all of us. Let’s seek no credit for ourselves but give You the glory for all that is accomplished. May our lives and actions lead others to see Your love and power.

  2. Paul's dedication to unity through a gift to the Jerusalem church exemplifies how generosity can strengthen relationships and foster unity among believers. Teach us to be generous, sharing what we have with a joyful heart. Let our giving be a means of blessing and unity in Your church. May we see the needs of others and respond with compassion, knowing that we are one family in Christ.

  3. The Gospel calls us to unity across diverse backgrounds, encouraging real and authentic community that leads to deeper transformation. Consider how you can engage more deeply in community to let God bring lasting change in your life.
