Prayer Pt. 4- Prayer is Meditation // January 26th, 2025

Teaching overview

This week’s teaching, Riley talked about how the attention span in the culture is so short. Our attention is so valuable there is a large competition for a variety organizations and people to have our attention. In contrast, Psalm 40, we as believers are asked to pay attention to the Lord in prayer and meditaion.

Our prayer for your Community

This week, seek the Lord and wait upon and consider his ways. Meditate on the Word and seek what the Lord has to say to his church through the scriptures.

Group questions

  1. How is God speaking to you through this passage or idea? (Seek)

  2. In what specific ways can you follow Jesus into deeper faith in light of this passage? (Practice)

  3. How can we as a group support you in living out what we’ve discussed this week? (Mission)

For further meditation…

  1. Cultivate Patience and Quiet Reflection: Embrace a posture of patient waiting, as the psalmist did, allowing space for God to speak. Set aside regular quiet time to pray, meditate, and reflect on His Word.

  2. Focus on Listening and Remembering God's Faithfulness: Use meditation to focus on listening for God's voice and recalling His past works and answered prayers. This builds faith and reinforces trust in His timing and plans.

  3. Engage in Community and Worship: Strengthen your practice of meditation by sharing insights, praying with others, and joining in worship. Fellowship with others fosters encouragement and a sense of shared growth in faith.
