Prayer Pt. 6- Pray and Do Not Lose Heart // February 9th, 2025

Teaching overview

This week’s teaching, Riley taught from Luke 18:1-8 , where Jesus tells a parable to encourage people to always pray and not lose heart. He acknowledged that prayer can be both a joy and a struggle. He pointed out that while prayer allows believers to experience a deep connection with God, it can also feel like a grind—boring, long, and seemingly pointless at times.

Our prayer for your Community

This week we pray that the Lord will teach us to persist in prayer, like the widow who sought justice. Strengthen our faith to trust in your timing and to never lose heart. May we always seek you diligently, knowing you hear our cries.

Group questions

  1. How is God speaking to you through this passage or idea? (Seek)

  2. In what specific ways can you follow Jesus into deeper faith in light of this passage? (Practice)

  3. How can we as a group support you in living out what we’ve discussed this week? (Mission)

For further meditation…

  1. Lord, You hear even my simplest prayers. Help me to approach You without fear or pretense, knowing that my words don’t have to be perfect—only sincere. When I struggle to find words, remind me of the prayers in Scripture and the voices of the faithful throughout history. Prayer:
Father, teach me to pray with simplicity and trust. Let my words be few but full of faith. In moments of silence, let my heart still be open to Your presence.

  2. God, You know my heart better than I do. I don’t need to impress You or hide my struggles. Instead of feeling guilty over distractions, help me to bring my wandering thoughts, fears, and joys before You as an offering of honesty. Prayer: Lord, let my prayers be real. Let me come to You with all that I am—my doubts, my burdens, my joys—without reservation. Meet me in my honesty and draw me closer to You.

  3. Prayer is not about performance but about persistence. Like a child learning to speak, my prayers will grow stronger the more I bring my heart before You. Even when I don’t feel like praying, help me to show up, trusting that You are always listening. Prayer: God, give me the perseverance to pray continually. Let me not grow weary in seeking You, but instead, find strength and joy in daily communion with You.
